Chronicles Of Depression 2.0: #334: Antes 1

Europe puts more on the line for banks than US
Europe put $2.3 trillion on the line Monday to protect the continent's banks, a figure that dwarfs the Bush administration's $700 billion rescue program, in its most unified response yet to the global financial crisis after a stumbling start.

Emphasis added by me.

Those who have been here since January are not surprised to see things enter multi-trillion-dollar ranges.

The Bailout Poker Pots:*

Austria: $166 billion
England: $438 billion + $63 billion
France: $491 billion
Germany: $671 billion
Italy: will not specify
Netherlands: $273 billion
Norway: $54 billion
Portugal: $27 billion
Spain: $135 billion
Sweden: unknown

* totals will vary article to article; plus, some figures are not outright cash but lending guarantee limits -- meaning, it will turn into cash when things fall apart
