Gas tops $4 a gallon on Long Island
With Memorial Day still two weeks away, what many have feared is now a reality: This weekend, several gas stations on Long Island began to post prices of more than $4 a gallon. And that's for the no-frills, regular, 87-octane stuff.
According to the AAA, the average price for regular unleaded gasoline on Long Island on Sunday was $3.947 a gallon -- a new high, and the highest of all the regions in the state. A year ago, it was $3.191. Yesterday's national average was $3.707 a gallon, also a new high, up from $3.053 a year ago. In New York City, the average reached a new high of $3.945 a gallon yesterday, up from $3.202 a year ago.
Emphasis added by me.
Remember, our election-stealing war criminal Eejit-In-Chief "hadn't heard" of $4/gallon gas.
Do you think he does now?
I can't get the front page of the NY Post for this one, so the website graphic will have to do:
TROUBLE IN LI PARADISE
May 12, 2008 -- Homeowners in the some of the toniest ZIP codes in the Hamptons are facing a frightening reality - they can't afford to foot the bill for their high-priced homes, The Post has learned.
In the first three months of this year, banks have launched preliminary foreclosure actions - known as lis pendens proceedings - against a record 120 borrowers in East Hampton and Southampton towns.
Twenty percent of those borrowers live in homes that are worth more than $1 million, according to figures from the Suffolk County clerk.
And the list gets longer every week.
Awwwww, poor babies.
